Grand Lake of The CherokeesGrand Lake O’ The Cherokees was created in 1940 with GRDA’s completion of Pensacola Dam. It is the premier lake in northeastern Oklahoma.
Having 46,500 surface acres of water which is ideal for boating, skiing, fishing and swimming. It is popular with sailboat enthusiasts wishing to take advantage of the prevailing winds which blow in the direction the lake lies from the southwest to northeast.Grand Lake has 1,300 miles of shoreline meandering through the Ozark Mountains and several communites lie on the lake boundaries. Normal surface elevation is 742 feet above sea level. Grand is consistently ranked among the top lakes for bass fishing in the region.
